Cambridge University Library

digital preservation

Digital Preservation underpins Cambridge University Libraries' mission to support teaching, learning, and research—both within the University and the wider global academic community.

Alongside its vast physical collections, Cambridge University Libraries is also home to millions of digital items. Digital collection materials can be found across collecting areas, including the research outputs of the University, digitised versions of physical items within Special Collections, born-digital personal and corporate archives, and the University Archives.

CUL uses open-source tools, systems, and standards to ensure the longevity of digital collection materials. CUL also recognises that it is important to contribute to the open-source communities whose outputs they use, as well as to share openly about how they are managing their collections. It is important that these materials remain accessible now and going forward.

Here you can find resources about how the team is going about this very thing, through implementing policies, creating new services, carrying out research, and contributing to working groups.

If you have any questions, or want to discuss possibilities for collaboration, send us an email.
